Canoes & Kayaks

Rother Raft Race – Canoes & Kayaks

This year the River Rother Raft Race opens its doors to Canoes and Kayaks for the first time. We have been asked many times over the years if this would ever happen and so in 2010 a selection of the organisers tried and tested the river with both 1 man Kayaks and 2-3 men Canoes. We set the bar for this year and paddled an impressive 51 minutes (at a leisurely pace) so there will be records to be had this year.

The Canoe and Kayak race will set off 1 hour prior to the rafts (as they will be quicker) at 12pm so you will need to arrive at the start with enough time to check in and register yourself.

Rules:

We are not big on red tape and rules that will turn the event into a health and safety check list so there are only a few rules in this category. We would however like to stress this is a fun event so please take into consideration others and your surroundings.

• Entrants must all wear life jackets at all times

• Each entrant aged 10-16 must be accompanied by one adult

• All Canoes & Kayaks must disembark at the well signed area before the Fish Ladder and carry vessels around the ladder and re-join the river at the allotted area. (unfortunately we are not insured for canoes and kayaks travelling down the ladder)

• Most of all HAVE FUN
